What are door knobs?
Door knobs are spherical, cylindrical or oval-shaped fittings that are used either to push the entrance door open and close it or to open and close passage doors . The difference between them is that the knobs for entrance doors are fixed knobs and the knobs for passage doors are rotating knobs to be able to operate the latch.

How to choose the ideal knob for your doors
First of all, as we have just explained, you must be clear about the intended use of said knob. If you are going to install it on an entrance door, it must be a fixed knob , and if you are going to install it on an interior door, it must be a rotating knob . Fixed knobs are chosen based on the aesthetics of your doors. In other words, there is no better or worse one, but one that fits better with the colors and appearance of your doors and others that do not.
On the other hand, the choice of rotating knobs for interior doors is a bit more complex. They are sophisticated mechanisms that are sold in pairs, they rotate and include tubular handles in the pack. There are 3 types of rotating knobs: free-function knobs, key knobs and bathroom lock knobs .
1. Free-action knobs are knobs that are chosen for doors with passageways such as kitchen doors, living rooms, hallways or bedrooms. They are knobs that are simply turned and the door opens .
2. Keyed knobs are knobs that have an internal mechanism that allows you to lock them by turning a key on the outside of the door. This is ideal for offices, bedroom doors or pantries where you want to restrict access to that space.
3. Finally, locking knobs are the ideal fittings for installing on bathroom doors . Just as when you install handles you have to install locks separately, in this case you will only need to install the knob with the integrated locking device . This way you can block the opening of bathroom doors from the inside.
How to install knobs on your doors
In line with what we have been explaining, we are going to see how to install the 2 types of knobs for the two doors.
On the one hand, installing door knobs for entrance doors is very simple. It is just a matter of making a hole (most of the time it is already made) in the center of the door and then inserting a screw from the inside that is screwed into the knob from the outside by turning it.
On the other hand, the installation of door knobs for passage doors requires more knowledge. Let's see step by step how to install a door knob with a mechanism:
1st. Drill the side of the door with a 54mm diameter drill bit at a distance of 60 or 70mm from the edge (free choice).
2º. Drill the edge of the door with a 25mm diameter drill bit . It must be at the same height as the side hole and connect to it .
3. Insert the door handle into the hole, checking that it fits well, and mark the outline of the door handle trim.
4th. You have to recess the outline you have marked to a depth of 3mm with a 24mm chisel to place the front.
5. Insert the handle and screw it to the edge of the door.
6. Separate the two knobs and insert the one with the square on one side of the door.
7th . The other knob, the neck has a hole where you must insert something that presses the button inside and you can separate the base from the head of the knob .
8º. Once separated , place the base on the square and screw it to the door . Then place the rosette trim and the knob on top until it clicks into place again.
9. Now you have the knob installed on the door and ready to start using it.
