Learn how to install weather stripping on your doors
There are many different types of door seals , each with its own particular characteristics and specific installation methods . Here we will see how to install the seals on different doors. If you don't know which seal you need , it may help to consult this guide first: " How to choose the ideal seal for your doors " .
Install your self-adhesive door seal
Adhesive draught excluders are a classic. They are an easy, quick and practical solution to install. The installation of an adhesive draught excluder is carried out as follows:
1. Measure the width of the door and buy a weather strip of the same length or a little larger.
2. Once received, if necessary, cut the weatherstrip to the exact width of the door.
3. Clean the bottom surface of the door with a damp cloth and dry it afterwards so that you can adhere the weather strip.
4. Remove the adhesive backing from the weatherstrip and stick it to the bottom of the door.
Please note that the brush or PVC part should almost touch the floor.
5. Apply pressure to the adhesive side of the door seal for 1 minute and try not to move the door too much for the next 3 hours so that the seal adheres properly.
6. Congratulations! You now have the adhesive weatherstrip installed and positioned on the bottom, ready to withstand dirt and changes in temperature outside.
Install your automatic overlay weatherstrip on your doors
Automatic weather stripping is a professional and suitable solution for doors. It is activated by lowering the brush when the door is closed and deactivated by folding the brush (or rubber) when the door is opened.
Installation is "a little more complex" than adhesive weather strips, but these can also be installed on any type of door. Let's see how to install surface-mounted automatic weather strips:
1. Measure the width of the door and buy a weather strip of the same length or a little larger.
2. Once received, if necessary, cut the weatherstrip to the exact width of the door.
3. Remove the exterior trim that comes with the weatherstrip.
4. With the mechanism activated, the rubber should touch the floor . Calculate how much the weatherstrip extends to calculate the height at which you should fix it and screw it to the door, securing it with lag screws.
Note: You can adjust the height to which you want the weather strips to drop by a few millimeters.
5. If necessary, screw an accessory into the frame or double door where the button hits when closing to activate the weatherstrip.
6th. Congratulations! You now have an automatic weather strip installed . These weather strips are very effective and even isolate sound coming from outside.

Install your automatic built-in weatherstrip on your doors
The installation of the automatic built-in draught excluder is very similar to that of the surface-mounted draught excluder , but with one difference: the lower edge of the door must have a hole made to the size of the draught excluder so that it fits perfectly. This can only be done with a specialized machine, a pantograph or a handyman . The rest of the installation is simple and very similar to the surface-mounted draught excluder.
How to install weather stripping on your windows?
Window seals can be adhesive or snap-on seals. Whatever the case, you will need to measure the height and width of the windows where you want to install the seals and stick them to the part where the frame and the window itself apply pressure , thus avoiding possible gaps where cold, water or dirt can enter .
