Order your master keyed cylinders

Lock mastering is a technique by which several sets of locks can be opened with the same keys and there is a master key that opens all sets of locks. In other words, it is a way of reducing the number of keys you have to carry in your pocket and controlling access to certain spaces for whoever can. The advantage of lock mastering is that you can make as many opening combinations as you need and apply it to as many locks, padlocks or locks as you want.

What is the difference between cylinder matching and master keying?

Key matching is the ability to open several cylinders with the same key. Key mastering is the ability to make as many combinations of openings as you want with the same or different keys. To give a typical example, imagine 4 floors of offices. You could make all the doors on each floor open with the same key (key matching) and then have a master key that opens the doors on all 4 floors (key mastering). This would be 4 types of key matching but also a key mastering that would allow those 4 floors to be opened with the same key for the administrator, the director, the cleaning service or whoever.

It is also common to see master keying in entrances , for example. There are buildings in which the same key opens the entrance door and the door to your house. But the key to your house does not open any other house in the building. In this way, one key would be enough to access your home.

Let's look at an image with a graphic example of what master keying is.
